InterSystems Founder Buys $100M+ in FL Real Estate

Phillip Ragon, the founder of software company InterSystems, purchased three homes in Golden Beach, FL, to the tune of $93 million, just one year after buying a separate property in the area for an additional $20 million.

Sun and fun: Two of the three Golden Beach homes have already closed, with the third set to close sometime next week. Agents say that the deals, taken as one large transaction, will set the record for most expensive real estate deal in both Golden Beach and the Greater Miami area.

Hard to find: “There are very few sellers,” said Jills Zeder agent Danny Hertzberg, “so to find two or three properties together was almost impossible. We had various different combinations we were trying to figure out.” This led to negotiations with property owners, as only one estate was originally listed for sale.

Bigger and better: Ragon plans to demolish the existing properties on each lot and build a single-family residence across all three land parcels, according to his agents. Meanwhile, Hertzberg is convinced the deal is going to be significant for Golden Beach, an area that boasts homeowners including Tommy Hilfiger and Ricky Martin, but where properties still sell for less on average than those in Miami.
